On Thursday, Oct. 29, Dallas ISD students participated in a hands-on interactive competition designed to introduce high school age girls to the many career opportunities available to them in the commercial real estate industry. The program, known as CREW Careers Building Opportunities, was sponsored by Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) in Dallas. This is their 10th year of sponsoring the program. Throughout the day, students worked in teams alongside CREW members to create a redevelopment plan for the now-vacant Mirabeau B. Watch out NASA, more future science and engineer field leaders are heading your way! Woodrow Wilson High School’s RoboCats competed in the Dallas BEST Regional Robotics Competition, Oct. 18 at Eastfield College. They were one of two teams from North Texas to advance to state, after this year’s competition. “There are two ranking systems and the overall ranking includes the team’s marketing, record keeping lab books showing their design process and other things,” said Marc Hairston, Woodrow’s University of Texas at Dallas sponsor. Skyline High School football’s hard work and successes have thrust the team into national spotlight with an 18th best composite ranking among high school football teams in the country this season. The composite ranking is an average of the team’s rating across various outlets including Max Preps and USA Today. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Today ranks the team fourth in the state behind Allen, De Soto and Southlake Carroll, respectively, in Texas UIL Class 6A football and second in the area.
