On Saturday, Jan. 16, the Dallas ISD Teen School Board held its first community service project of the 2020-2021 school year. The goal of the project, led by Teen School Board Community Service Chair Ethan Tolentino, was to create desks for underserved students throughout Dallas ISD. More than 110 Dallas ISD student-athletes formally announced their college selections during the Annual National Signing Day on Feb. 3. The event recognized and introduced all Dallas ISD senior student-athletes who have signed National Letters of Intent for a collegiate sport. This includes sports such as basketball, baseball, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, softball, swimming, tennis, track and field, volleyball and wrestling. Dallas ISD is sending postcards to students who have not been engaging in school and have numerous absences. The postcards will tell students and families how they can reengage or reenroll in school. The postcards are being mailed this week to high school students who have not been engaged with school, with elementary and middle school students to follow soon. Anyone interested in reengaging with school is encouraged to contact their campus. Anyone interested in enrolling or reenrolling in school is encouraged to call 972-925-5560.
