Throughout February, Dallas ISD is observing Black History Month. This year’s national theme, A Century of Black Life, History and Culture, not only celebrates the impact African Americans have made in history, but recognizes the important work of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, established in 1915. In 1926, the organization founded Black History Week, which later grew into Black History Month. Schools have planned a number of events to commemorate the month.
