Dallas ISD teachers of 5th grade students have an opportunity to access a series of videos donated to the school district to help their students begin exploring careers. Two district schools are feeling blue, and it’s all good. Harry Stone Montessori Academy and Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School are among 26 Texas schools nominated as a 2015 National Blue Ribbon School. The prestigious award, a program of the U.S. Department of Education, recognizes exemplary schools where students are performing at high levels. Harry Stone, located in Oak Cliff, serves more than 500 students in pre-k through eighth grade and recently celebrated becoming an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, one of only two in the district. Former Woodrow Wilson High School football player (Class of ’84) and Heisman Trophy winner (’87) Tim Brown was elected to the NFL Hall of Fame over the weekend. Brown also made history once again, as the first Dallas ISD to be elected to elite club. The announcement sparked conversations among many of his fans, including some of his No. 1 fans – his family.
