Rachel Franz volunteers at William Lipscomb Elementary where her daughter, Claire, attends the second grade. Franz is committed to the school and believes it helps her daughter to be committed to her school as well. Franz is on the PTA and helps with the school’s Site-Based Decision-Making Team.
Students from Wilmer Hutchins High School’s culinary program cooked breakfast on WFAA News 8 Daybreak to preview an upcoming competition hosted by Baylor Health’s Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute. Victoria Rodriguez Villafana says that volunteering at Casa View Elementary, where her three sons attend, has helped her better assist in her childrens’ education. Villafana said participating in school activities alongside Casa View’s friendly staff has been a rewarding experience because she is able to see her children grow as successful students. Villafana encourages other parents to volunteer at their child’s school because it’s a great way to learn different ways to support their child’s education.
Part of being a good friend is being fair. Fairness promotes healthy social/emotional health and well-being. Remember what it means to be fair: Playing by the rules; taking turns and sharing; being open-minded and listening to others; not taking advantage of others; not blaming others carelessly; and treating all people fairly.
