For the second time in Dallas ISD history, students from Marsh Preparatory Academy are competing at the National Speech and Debate Tournament. Dallas ISD is making every effort to reduce waste and conserve energy. The district has recycled 1,492 tons of aluminum, cardboard and paper, plastics and glass this school year. That’s enough to save 13,800 mature trees and 5.6 million gallons of water!

Graduation season is happening May 29–June 7, and in honor of Dallas ISD graduates, The Hub is spotlighting a different senior each day as the Class of 2015 takes their anticipated walk across the stage. Today we spotlight Eraquio Garcia at Thomas Jefferson High School. On Friday, May 29, City Year Dallas, 56 volunteers from the Celanese Corporation, and a group of students worked together on a campus beautification project at Franklin Delano Roosevelt High School. Projects included painting murals on walls, planting beds for the interior courtyard, painting the Dallas skyline on the gym wall, and building picnic tables and benches. Additionally, volunteers and students will work to build an outdoor classroom in August. “This is a great example of bringing businesses in to the school and developing a partnership,” Roosevelt High School Principal Brian De Veaux said.
