WFAA 8 recently profiled the STEAM Middle School at D.A. Hulcy, where “there is a certain sense of excitements in the classes,” according to the news report. The African American Success Initiative (AASI) will highlight Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) through the “HBCU Experience” on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 5:45–6:45 p.m. The event is being held at the S.T.E.A.M. Middle School at D.A. Hulcy, 9339 S Polk St. The AASI initiative is aligned with the Destination 2020 key action of educating students to become “college-ready” or “career-ready” by the time of graduation. During the event, successful graduates of HBCU’s who are now Dallas ISD staff and principals will be highlighted.
