NBC DFW has the story on a new Dallas ISD program aimed at sparking creativity and success in the classroom. The program provides activities at Dallas ISD schools such as singing, dancing, sculpting and cooking. North Texas Ford Dealers and Ford Motor Company Fund announced more than $400,000 in Ford Driving Dreams scholarships for seniors in high schools across North Texas interested in pursuing education in science, technology, engineering and math. The $2,000 a piece scholarships will be awarded to qualifying students graduating in 2016 and planning to attend an accredited two-year or four-year college or university over the period for which the scholarship is requested. The application deadline is March 14. Qualifying scholarship applicants must submit a “What Drives Your Dream?” essay. The scholarships are part of Ford’s overall education efforts in North Texas.…
With all juniors taking the SAT tomorrow as part of SAT School Day, the Dallas ISD Postsecondary Success Department has the following tips for those students: Get a good night sleep Eat a good breakfast Show up to school early, if possible Bring snacks, since there is not a break for lunch The SAT School Day provides free test registration to the juniors. Also, a student can send up to four free official SAT score reports to the colleges of their choice. SAT School Day is a way to eliminate the barriers that come from taking the SAT on a Saturday.
