Congratulations to Dallas ISD Police Department Sergeants Tammy Jamerson and Lawrence Strange for graduating from the University of North Texas Caruth Police Institute today. Assistant Police Chief Jason Rodriguez and the Leadership Dallas Class of 2017 made a video from Dallas City Hall congratulating their accomplishment. The CPI is a four-week leadership development program for Dallas ISD Police and Dallas Police supervisors, providing extensive training for new law enforcement leaders.
The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) has announced that Dallas ISD’s application for the Award of Merit for Purchasing Operations was approved with Recognized Status. The award to the Dallas ISD Procurement Services Department recognizes the school district’s achievement in implementing best practices in the area of procurement services. Determined by a research committee and TASBO board of directors, TASBO gives the award based on best practices as defined by the Texas Legislature and the purchasing module published by the Texas Education Agency. Torrence Hatch, a rapper and songwriter from Louisiana, donated diabetes supplies on Monday, Dec. 5, to Dr. Billy Earl Dade Middle School. Hatch was a part of a celebrity basketball event held the previous day at the PC Cobb Athletic Complex to promote awareness for diabetes and raise funds to help people with this illness. Dade Middle School is a part of the Accelerating Campus Excellence (ACE) initiative, which brings together several components to boost student success and create a strong sense of community Special guests on Monday included Trustee Bernadette Nutall and Jolee Healey, executive director of ACE schools.
