Students from Jimmy Tyler Brashear Elementary School toured the University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) campus, enjoying a first glimpse at what a college campus looks like. More than 100 fifth-graders from Brashear were greeted by UT Dallas students during the tour. The UT Dallas students talked about the steps it takes to get into college, how to apply for scholarships, and ways to be successful while in college. Brashear staff provided this opportunity to expose their students to conversations on college at an early age. Students and staff at Ebby Halliday Elementary School dressed as their favorite storybook characters on Friday, Oct. 28, for the school’s “Book-A-Con” event. Business and community volunteers visited the school to read to students, from the Dallas Police Department, Dallas Public Library, Ebby Halliday Realty and more.
