Several Dallas ISD schools are becoming known for their success with a method that allows teachers and students to recognize and respond to student learning during learning – in other words, monitoring student learning to provide ongoing feedback. Dallas ISD secondary STEM students recently competed in Texas Math & Science Coaches Association State (TMSCA) tournaments, where they took top awards in several categories and were awarded two scholarships. Students from nine high schools traveled to San Antonio in March to compete at the state level in four contests: number sense, mathematics, calculator applications, and science. The School of Science and Engineering and the School for the Talented and Gifted took first and fourth place overall, respectively, in the state competition. Esports is going strong for fourth- and fifth-grade students who recently competed in the annual Spring Tournament. More than a thousand magnet school teachers, principals, and administrators have arrived in Dallas for the Magnet Schools of America’s 40th National Conference, hosted by Dallas ISD.  From April 18 to 22, Dallas ISD team members are hosting the weeklong conference.
