The community is invited to a meeting to discuss Dallas ISD’ plans to improve South Oak Cliff High School. The meeting is Tuesday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the school located at 3601 S. Marsalis Ave.

 April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, a time set aside to thank volunteers and recognize them for their service. Dallas ISD encourages anyone who wants to have a positive impact on students to go here sign up to volunteer on a campus. Dallas ISD will send 24 teams to the Destination Imagination State Tournament set for April 7-9 in Lubbock. According to the Destination Imagination website, the program is a fun, hands-on system of learning that fosters students’ creativity, courage and curiosity through open-ended academic Challenges in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), fine arts and service learning. Participants learn patience, flexibility, persistence, ethics, respect for others and their ideas, and the collaborative problem-solving process. Teams may showcase their solutions at a tournament.
