Parents and volunteers provided breakfast and snacks every day last week to all staff at Urban Park Elementary School. Staff also enjoyed a specially decorated room where they could go and relax. The Urban Park Elementary community liaison helped coordinate the meals, which were in honor of Dallas ISD Teacher Appreciation Week, May 1–5.
Five seniors from Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts have been accepted into one of the most prestigious performing universities in the nation. The T.C. Marsh Leadership Cadet Corps earned three championship titles at the 2017 Drill Battle of DFW competition last month in DeSoto. The Marsh cadets competed with schools from Red Oak, DeSoto, Glen Heights, Fort Worth and the Dallas area. They were evaluated on precision, overall appearance, command voice and military bearing. On Friday, May 5, employees from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services and Sprouts helped plant a new school garden at Dallas ISD’s Stevens Park Elementary School. The project was coordinated by nonprofit REAL School Gardens. Students and school staff also got in on the “Big Dig” action. See additional photos on the REAL School Gardens Facebook page here.
