The Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department officially celebrated its summer meals kickoff at the Dallas Zoo on June 14. The theme for this year’s initiative is “Wild About Summer Meals,” which was designed to be a fun way to bring awareness to the Summer Meals Program while enjoying the various animals and exhibits at the zoo. Families are invited to enroll their child in a Dallas ISD school at one of four summer enrollment locations. The enrollment summer locations are: Linus D. Wright Dallas ISD Administration Building, 9400 N. Central Expressway Turney W. Leonard Governance and Training Center, 5151 Samuel Blvd. Kathlyn Gilliam Collegiate Academy, 1700 E. The Dallas ISD Attendance and Truancy Education Department celebrated the power of showing up at Six Flags on Monday. All Dallas ISD students with five or fewer absences this school year received a Six Flags coupon for free entry to the park this week with the purchase of a regularly priced adult ticket. Through the help of a partnership with Six Flags Over Texas, schools promoted the Strive for No More Than 5 imitative by challenging students and parents to commit to limiting absences to no more than five days for the school year.
