A ceremony recognized the Dallas ISD volunteer and partnership coordinators who tirelessly work to support their campuses. At the Dallas Music Hall at Fair Park on May 21, district leaders and the Dallas ISD Volunteer and Partnership Services Department celebrated the coordinators for their outstanding work. The end-of-year ACE reception honored outstanding assistant principals and coaches who have redefined what it means to be a leader in education. Dallas ISD Assistant Superintendent Jolee Healey discussed the importance of recognizing stellar educators making a difference. “It’s important to celebrate individual efforts, because each person contributes,” Healey said. “Everyone makes a difference and we have outstanding people changing the game for students.” Since the programs’ inception in 2015, ACE schools have improved in all areas. The fourth annual “Power Brokers: A Celebration of Women” created an inspirational experience for female juniors from South Oak Cliff High School to engage with powerful women who are making a difference in their community. The Dallas ISD Food and Nutrition Services Department the previous day also hosted the third annual “Power Brokers: A Dawning of Boys to Men” with Chef Ken Patrick. At this event, Levine’s Department Stores donated 50 ties for the male students for the inspirational day. Rosemont Elementary School Nurse Adriana Mariscal was honored as the Dallas ISD Health Services Employee of the Year at the Health Services Recognition Celebration on May 8. As usual, the celebration coincided with National School Nurse Day and honored school nurses across Dallas ISD who ensure students are healthy and ready to learn. Dallas ISD Health Services Director Jennifer Finley presented certificates to nurses who successfully completed the two-year School Nurse Clinical Development program. The ceremony also recognized Health Services retirees and presented Years of Service Pins. Donors such as Love in Motion provided appreciation gifts.
