Parent hotline can answer your back-to-school questions

Questions or concerns about the start of school? Parents can call the Dallas ISD Parent Hotline to ask questions prior to the first day of school. August 21-25: Parent Hotline (972) 925-5555 Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the first week of school, parents may call the Back-to-School Hotline with questions. August 28-September 1: Dallas ISD’s Back-to-School Hotline (English/Spanish) (972) 925-KIDS (5437) Hours: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., August 28 and 29 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., August 30-September 1 Information will include enrollment, bus routes, immunization requirements, school locations, school hours, and more.

Dallas ISD announce the LearnStorm challenge from Khan Academy

Dallas ISD is participating in the Khan Academy’s LearnStorm six-week national learning challenge. Khan Academy is a popular nonprofit online learning site Teachers can sign up to share the free learning challenge with their students in grades three through 12 anywhere in the country. LearnStorm combines Khan Academy’s thousands of free, standards-aligned exercises with new, limited-time-only incentives to engage, celebrate and reward every student, no matter their level. The window for teachers to sign up for the challenge is now open, and the challenge runs from September 12 to October 20. Teachers enjoy personalized professional development (video)

Teachers over the summer participated in professional development that was tailored to their individual needs. The sessions provided an engaging environment for educators to learn from the best content-based instructors. Teachers could also explore new technology and practices, delve into content areas, discover the benefits of Social and Emotional Learning, and much more. The Hub is spotlighting some of these Dallas ISD students participating in the program. Today, meet Daniel Akwei, a student at W.T.
