    Parent meeting to detail plans for relocation of Franklin D. Roosevelt students and staff

    Parents of students at Franklin D. Roosevelt and O.W. Holmes Classical Academy are urged to attend a virtual parent meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, to discuss plans to relocate Roosevelt students to the Holmes campus to safeguard students and facilitate construction on the Roosevelt campus. Building crews are at work on a $61.7 million renovation at Roosevelt, with the goal of substantially completing the work in time for students to occupy the building next August. Plans for the temporary move were prompted by the pandemic, the recent snowstorm and other unforeseen circumstances that have affected the construction timeline.…

    T.G. Terry, Adelle Turner and Martin Weiss elementary schools are considering adopting an alternative calendar to help ensure students don’t fall too far behind because of the pandemic. They are among the 42 Dallas ISD schools considering adopting an “intersession” calendar, which would extend the school year to start at the beginning of August and end in late June.     Dallas ISD recognizes unsung heroes through ‘Brag On A Bus Driver’ initiative

    Dallas ISD is looking to recognize its bus drivers for the hard work they do through a new “Brag  On A Bus Driver” initiative. Feb. 22 is National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, which is a time to recognize those who make sure students safely get to and from school. As part of the district’s new Brag On Bus Driver initiative, bus drivers this semester are giving out business cards with QR codes–while also having a QR code sticker on the outside of the bus–so parents, students, campus staff and other stakeholders can easily complete a survey through Let’s Talk…

    Three impressive Dallas ISD mock trial teams head to state competition

    A total of 21 Dallas ISD high school mock trial teams competed during the recent virtual Dallas Regional Mock Trial competition held on Jan. 15-16. Winning first place was the Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet mock trial team. Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts placed second and third place went to the White Rock Mock Trial Team – a combination team consisting of students from Skyline and Bryan Adams High Schools. These three talented teams will represent Dallas ISD at the virtual state contest on March 4-6
