More than 550 students from 38 middle schools participated in the UIL A+ Spring Middle School @ Home Academic Competition held on Feb. 26. Academic events included in the online competition were calculator applications, chess, dictionary skills, listening, maps-graphs-charts, math, number sense, science, social studies, and spelling. Top students will receive ribbons for each event. The top-performing schools from each group are listed in the chart below. The campuses with the most students ranked first or second on individual tests were identified as top-performing schools. Last month, over 160 Dallas ISD middle school choir students competed at the Region 20 UIL Middle School All Region Choir contest with 70 students earning a spot in one of the choirs! This honor reflects the high-quality educational experiences taking place daily in the middle school visual and performing arts classrooms in Dallas ISD. The district’s Visual & Performing Arts Department offers a set of courses at the middle school level which delivers dynamic experiences for students interested in the visual and performing arts.
