On October 20th, 2019, a series of tornadoes severely impacted 10 Dallas ISD campuses. Cary Middle School was a total loss and half of the Cary students were reassigned to Benjamin Franklin International Exploratory Academy. The community rallied around the middle school and was asking what could be done to support the existing and new students. Through a series of conversations with the Dallas Education Foundation, the non-profit partner of Dallas ISD, and the school’s principal, a request for a library renovation was the answer. This year in celebration of National Read Across America Day, the Dallas Cowboys and Reliant teamed up on Wednesday, March 2, to support the importance of reading education, cultivate a love for literacy and highlight educators in the DFW area transforming their schools and communities. Class Acts Program Powered by Reliant Reliant and the Dallas Cowboys wrapped up the 2021-2022 Cowboys Class Acts program by surprising two Dallas ISD teachers each with $4,000 grants to use toward enriching the lives of their school and community. More than 550 students from 38 middle schools participated in the UIL A+ Spring Middle School @ Home Academic Competition held on Feb. 26. Academic events included in the online competition were calculator applications, chess, dictionary skills, listening, maps-graphs-charts, math, number sense, science, social studies, and spelling. Top students will receive ribbons for each event.
