Booker T. Washington High School for the Visual and Performing Arts won first place at the 43rd Annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition on Saturday, March 5, at a competition held in person at the George Allen Courthouse. The win marks back-to-back championship titles for the team, as they also took home the win for the 2021 competition. The competition included more than 20 high school teams from across the state, to argue a hypothetical civil court case written by local attorneys with the Dallas Bar Association. In front of a 900-person crowd made up of principals, business executives, community leaders and parents, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa detailed Dallas ISD’s bold progress made over the past few years. The Dallas Education Foundation and Dallas ISD teamed up to host the State of the District on March 4.
