At the Academic Decathlon state finals, decathletes from four Dallas ISD high schools were the recipients of $7,500 in scholarships and winners of 48 individual awards, including 19 gold medals. Stacy Dean, Deputy Under Secretary of the United States Department of Agriculture, visited the Young Women’s Leadership Academy at Rangel Middle School on March 10th in celebration of School Breakfast Week, Women’s History Month, National Nutrition Month and the Farm to School Program at Dallas ISD. Dallas ISD’s Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program is a home-based home visitation program that focuses on parent-involved early learning and provides solutions that strengthen families. HIPPY aims to help parents prepare their children for success in school and beyond and empower parents as their child’s first and most influential teacher.
