In October, student-athletes at Bryan Adams High School will attempt to raise $10,000 for the fight against childhood cancer. According to a statement from Go4theGoal’s Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer campaign, the high school is raising money at donate.go4thegoal.org/bryanadams. The school’s goal is to raise $10,000. Teams will also be wearing shoelaces during games that are gold, the color for childhood cancer awareness, during their games. September was Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. W.H. Adamson Band Director Chris Green got the surprise of his life last month when the school gathered for a top-secret assembly during which Green learned he was a finalist for the Farmers Insurance Thank Americas Teachers grant where he could win $100,000. The band program at Adamson has grown from having 12 students to more than 200 in the past five years. The grant would purchase band equipment so that every student has an instrument to play. On Saturday, Sept. 26, alumni celebrated Sunset High School’s 90th anniversary with a commemorative program, refreshments, and plenty of conversations remembering how the high school was way back when. The ceremony also celebrated the school’s historic designation from the City of Dallas and State of Texas. “No matter if you were a class in the ‘40s, a class in the ‘60s, like me, or the kids today, we just have a bond that makes us family,” said Carol Brown, who graduated Sunset in ’67. “I’m glad to come back to Sunset and see that bond still exists.” Watch the above…
