Dana Clark, a Dallas ISD Teacher of the Year, has taught science at Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School since 2004. During that time, she has fired up the imaginations of her students and others around the country as she blogged from such far-flung locations as Mount Kilimanjaro as part of an international team studying climate change. A record number of students at Carter High School have received full-ride scholarships to attend Texas Christian University. Six seniors at Carter were awarded the TCU Community Scholarships, each valued at more than $250,000, at a ceremony on Thursday. Tissues were passed out freely as the scholarship recipients, their families, classmates, teachers and staff cried in joy throughout the ceremony. It rained hard the night before, but nothing could dampen the enthusiasm surrounding a new learning garden at Dan D. Rogers Elementary. Nonprofit REAL School Gardens, along with corporate partners Texas Instruments, Fossil Group and FedEx, joined students, teachers and staff to install the new garden on Thursday, March 24. Principal Lisa Lovato said the garden will bring to life lessons in science, mathematics and engineering, possibly planting the seeds of future careers – even jobs that don’t yet exist. The staff at H.I. Holland P.R.E.P. Elementary at Lisbon is focused on students and helping them achieve. More than 300 students attend the school, which is part of the South Oak Cliff feeder pattern and has been at the heart of its community since 1938.
