Can you spell I-M-P-R-E-S-S-I-V-E? About 120 students from 70 Dallas ISD schools recently participated in six districtwide spelling bees, and 18 of those students are now headed to the county spelling bee. More students participated in the districtwide spelling bees than the previous year, when 95 students from 60 schools competed. The county spelling bee is Feb. 16, and the winner from that will move on to the regional spelling bee. Graduating Dallas ISD student-athlete seniors who have committed to scholarship offers to play sports and study at colleges and universities will get their moment to shine at the Athletic Signing Day event on Feb. 1, 11 a.m. at Ellis Davis Field House. The event will kick off with a Legacy Walk comprised of Dallas ISD graduates who played sports in college. Dallas ISD graduates who went on to play sports in college can still sign up to participate in the Legacy Walk by emailing ascogin@dallasisd.org.
