Sunset High School female students had a dream come true: their very own high quality prom dress to keep! Mockingbird Bridal donated $9,000 worth of prom dresses to the school. The students browsed the collection of dresses before picking out the perfect one. “We are very grateful to Mockingbird Bridal for making this happen, ” said Sunset High School Community Liaison Nora Garcia. “This is like a dream for these girls. They get these dresses and for free.”
Dallas ISD held a special ceremony to celebrate 4,600 students in grades 7–12 who have demonstrated academic excellence. More than 600 students attended the Scholars Recognition Ceremony at Ellis Davis Field House. The event celebrated students who have met the college and career readiness level on the PSAT, SAT or ACT, or have scored in the 95th percentile on the STAAR. Students received pins and cords celebrating their accomplishments. “We are hoping beyond the recognition piece of it, this will help motivate students on their path through determination,” said Mitch Morken, Director of Advanced Academic Services.
