Last week, staff members from Dallas ISD’s ACE schools convened to prepare for the coming school year. ACE stands for Accelerating Campus Excellence and is a strategic staffing initiative that hires proven educators at perpetually struggling schools to boost student achievement and college readiness. A new policy on racial equity was adopted this summer in an effort to strengthen the district’s socio-economic and educational parity for its students. The purpose of this policy is to adhere to the Racial, Socio-Economic, Educational Equity Resolution that was adopted by the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees on Dec. 14, 2017. When school starts on Aug. 20, the new Anne Frank Early Childhood Center will welcome in some of the district’s youngest students. The early childhood center, which is a separate building but part of Anne Frank Elementary School, will have one classroom for 3-year-old pre-K and six classrooms for 4-year-old pre-K. “The Anne Frank Early Childhood Center will be a valuable resource in developing our youngest students’ social and emotional learning abilities, fine motor skills, and basics of learning,” Anne Frank Principal Beverly Mullins Ford said. “These students will be set up for future success.” The 2015 bridge project funded…

About 20 students from two Dallas ISD schools are back from a life-changing experience: competing in Florida in a Futsal tournament against teams from across the globe. Futsal is similar to indoor soccer, but involves only five players at a time. By winning the sixth-grade Dallas ISD Futsal Tournament held in March, teams from Stockard and Spence middle schools earned their entry into the World Futsal Championships.
