The School for the Talented and Gifted has earned the first College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science A. Seven Dallas ISD schools have advanced to the Global Finals of the Destination Imagination Tournament. The schools advanced out of the state competition held March 22–23 in Corpus Christi. The teams advancing to the global competition happening in May in Missouri are: Promoting creativity and teamwork to more than 100,000 schoolchildren across the United States, Destination Imagination is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournament competitions.
A group of outstanding Dallas ISD students have advanced in a Law Day contest focused on free speech, free press, and free society. The Dallas Bar Association organized the contest featuring four categories: art posters, essays, photography and editorial. Students at seven Dallas ISD schools submitted a total of 135 entries. The first place winners have advanced to the State of Texas Bar competition.
