The School for the Talented and Gifted has earned the first College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science A. Schools honored with the AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award have expanded girls’ access in AP Computer Science courses. Out of more than 18,000 secondary schools worldwide that offer AP courses, TAG is one of only 685 to accomplish this. Seven Dallas ISD schools have advanced to the Global Finals of the Destination Imagination Tournament. The schools advanced out of the state competition held March 22–23 in Corpus Christi. The teams advancing to the global competition happening in May in Missouri are: Promoting creativity and teamwork to more than 100,000 schoolchildren across the United States, Destination Imagination is an educational program in which student teams solve open-ended challenges and present their solutions at tournament competitions.

A group of outstanding Dallas ISD students have advanced in a Law Day contest focused on free speech, free press, and free society. The Dallas Bar Association organized the contest featuring four categories: art posters, essays, photography and editorial. Students at seven Dallas ISD schools submitted a total of 135 entries. The first place winners have advanced to the State of Texas Bar competition. The STEM-Computer Science and Technology Department and Ann Richards STEAM Academy hosted the VEX IQ State Robotics Championship on March 9.
