Multilingual book vending machine installed at Dallas ISD central office
0At Dallas ISD, speaking another language is a superpower. “It’s an opportunity to create a group of bilingual future employees that are able to navigate language and cultures,” Edwin Flores, trustee for District 1, said. One way school officials are investing in students’ ability to learn and speak a second language is through the newly installed book vending machine at the Margaret and Gilbert Herrera International Welcome Center. 0Just in time for tax season, seniors attending Marvin E. Robinson School of Business and Management at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center have become certified tax preparers. “I’m big on building community in my classroom because if we understand people come from all walks of life and that everybody’s situation is different, we can understand the type of community we serve here in Dallas,” said Arieal Goodson, business and finance teacher at Townview. Dallas ISD student awarded Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship
0Ismael E., a senior at the School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, recently secured a $40,000 scholarship from the Amazon Future Leaders Program to pursue a degree in computer science. An enthusiastic problem solver, he is eager to further develop his skills in this field. “Words can’t describe how happy I am.
