Dallas ISD holds Secure Start Celebration for student-parents

Amidst the challenges and joys of parenthood, Dallas ISD recently hosted a districtwide event to welcome and bring together student-parents to learn, and support one another.

Guest speakers from Parkland Health and the City of Dallas WIC office were also present to educate student-parents on child safety strategies and other important tips on parenthood.

Erica Delgado, coordinator for Student Engagement and Support, said she hopes students felt a sense of community and walked away with helpful advice.

“My hope is for them to know they're not alone. Maybe they’ve found their child's new best friend,” she said. “In addition, I hope they are aware of what services are out there because there's so much they can get for free and just don't know about.”
