Middle school students think globally for International Wax Museum

The sights, sounds and, dances of countries across the world were well represented at the Benjamin Franklin International Exploratory Academy’s International Wax Museum.

The wax museum was one of the first major comprehensive school wide International Baccalaureate-related research project undertaken by the scholars. The school has gained authorization as an IB campus, which encourages scholars to think globally, be knowledgeable, caring and be prepared to succeed in a 21st-century world.

“This project spanned classes in the Art (Dance amp; Drama), LCC (military), Individual amp; Societies (Social Studies), Language amp; Literature (Language Arts), and Language Acquisition (French), helping them learn research skills for life that they need to succeed in today’s world,” Librarian Rosenid Hernández Badía said.

Franklin International Exploratory Academy earned IB World School authorization status in December 2017. First offered in 1994, the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) provides a framework of learning that encourages students to become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. The MYP emphasizes intellectual challenge, encouraging students to make connections between their studies in traditional subjects and the real world.
