AlumNow: Bryan Adams alum checks in on Forbes 30 Under 30 list

AlumNow: Bryan Adams alum checks in on Forbes 30 Under 30 list
The Hub

From playing on the basketball court at Bryan Adams High School to negotiating world title fights, Adrian Clark, Class of 2004, has found his niche inside the world of professional boxing.

This young entrepreneur wasted no time jabbing his way to a successful career as a sports agent, and today, he has scored fights on HBO, Showtime, Fox Sports, ESPN and NBC Sports.

AlumNow, The Hub feature that profiles Dallas ISD alumni, caught up with Clark just days before his February 27 book signing at Barnes and Nobles to promote A Guide for Young Entrepreneurs, the book he recently authored. The year is off to a great start for Clark who was recently named on Forbes 30 Under 30 list in sports.

What are you doing now?

I’m a sports agent and owner of AC Sports Management, LLC, where I negotiate contracts for professional athletes.

Briefly list a few of your career and/or personal highlights.

  • Forbes 30 Under 30 (Sports)
  • Author, ‘i’ A Guide for Young Entrepreneurs
  • Adrian Clark: Before the Bell (Documentary)
  • National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) Certified Player Agent
  • Licensed Boxing Manager
  • Traveled all over the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

What was your favorite subject or activity/involvement in high school?

Varsity basketball, hands down. Every practice, every game brought a new challenge, or experience for our squad. Although we held ourselves individually accountable for our play on the court, we learned how to work as a cohesive unit and push each other. We had great leadership from Dominique Kirk (Texas Aamp;M University).

Who was your favorite teacher?

Mignon Hansford and Dr. James Reed. Outside of my parents, those two individuals were extremely influential in my upbringing. Ms. Hansford brought out my creative side and put me on the spot as much as she possibly could. Dr. Reed was very flamboyant and popular. He was on TV, in the newspaper and magazines. He helped me create a vision. I wanted his popularity and stature.

What advice, if any, would you offer to high school students today?

Make good decisions and treat everyone as if they are an opportunity toward something great. Understand who you are. Follow your passion and do things the right way.

College/University and degree earned:

Texas Aamp;M University-Corpus Christi, 2009
