It was announced late last night that a healthcare provider who treated Thomas Eric Duncan, the Dallas patient who died of the Ebola virus last week, has tested positive for the virus on a preliminary test conducted by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The CDC is conducting additional tests to confirm the diagnosis. The Dallas Independent School District made several staff changes Friday, October 10 at Billy Earl Dade Middle School that will go into effect Monday, October 13. The changes are designed to improve the effectiveness of classroom instruction as quickly as possible. Ms. Margarita Garcia, currently the principal at James S. Hogg Elementary School, will be taking over as principal of Dade Middle School. A week and a half after learning five Dallas Independent School District students had possibly been in contact with the first confirmed case of Ebola in the United States, the district continues to carefully monitor the situation. The Dallas Independent School District has accepted the resignation of a Dallas ISD Police officer and a Dallas ISD Security officer following an internal investigation into alleged illegal steroid use. Two more Dallas ISD Police officers are being recommended for termination and another is being recommended to receive a 3-day suspension. The investigation found that a Dallas ISD officer sold what was alleged to be an illegal steroid to another officer who, along with several other officers, failed to report this information to supervisors.
