Marketing Services is responsible for communicating internally to more than 20,000 Dallas ISD employees and externally with the greater Dallas community through publications, marketing and advertising, e-newsletters, social media and photography.

The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2015-2016 school year calendar during its regular meeting on Dec. 18. The calendar calls for teachers to report for the new school year on Monday, Aug. 13. It includes 175 days of instruction, and designates Monday, Aug. 24, as the first day of classes. State law requires that public schools begin the school year no earlier than the fourth Monday in August. It’s been months of intense planning, development and incubation for eight teams working to establish Personalized Learning (PL) models throughout Dallas ISD. Now that hard work will soon come to fruition. The cohort teams presented PL plans last week to a panel of Dallas ISD senior leadership. Principals play an important role when communicating the components of the Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI) – Dallas ISD’s new teacher evaluation system that defines, supports and rewards effective teachers. In William Cabell Elementary, philanthropist Serena Simmons Connelly saw an opportunity to impact the families in her community. This year, Dallas ISD Connect Contact Center staff shared a little bit of holiday spirit by greeting families, helping with purchases and customer service at the Treasure of Hope, an annual shopping effort that allows families in need to shop for merchandise at 75 percent off retail value. Treasure of Hope provides selected families a $40 credit to spend in their holiday store. Results from the Fall 2014 Dallas ISD Climate Survey of campus staff show that support for the direction of individual campuses and the district as a whole continues to grow. The survey found that 74 percent of campus staff agree or strongly agree with the direction of their campus, up four points from the Spring 2014 survey results.
