Lianny G. is most looking forward to learning to read and write better and to meeting her new teacher when classes start in Dallas ISD Tuesday, Aug. 12. The second grader will start her second year at Anne Frank Elementary School and recently visited one of the One Centers with her mother to make sure she is enrolled for the new school year.
“She was at Anne Frank for two months last year, and I wanted to make sure she was registered and ready for the school year,” said Liliana Gaterol.
While Lianny is also looking forward to making new friends and fun activities, Gaterol said she is most excited about being part of Dallas ISD because of the progress in English acquisition and reading and writing that she saw her daughter make in the short time she was at Frank Elementary School last year.
Yesenia Cardoza Ramirez, interim executive director of Centralize Enrollment, said she has seen many parents like Gaterol come through the Linus D. Wright Dallas ISD Administration Building One Center and the other centers in the past few weeks, making sure their students are ready for the start of class.
“They can go to any of the One Centers but also to any of our 228 schools to register,” she said. “At the schools, not only can parents register their students, but they can also get additional information like schedules and uniforms and get to know the school.”
Ana Arias and Sharles Tovar are also getting their children—a fifth grader and a high school freshman—ready for Aug. 12 by getting them registered for the first time at Dallas ISD.
“We are excited about them learning English and being successful,” Arias said of her children, who will be attending T.G. Terry Elementary School and David W. Carter High School.
They visited the district’s One Center because they wanted their students to start learning on day one, they said.
Getting students enrolled for the 2025-2026 school year between now and Tuesday, whether at one of the centers or at a school, is important because learning starts on the first day, Ramirez said.
Parents who want to find out what school their children should attend based on their neighborhood and other enrollment information can visit the district’s enrollment page. For back-to-school information, go to www.dallasisd.org/backtoschool.
