Dallas ISD’s robotics teams reached remarkable heights this year.

The FIRST Robotics Championship took place this past April in Houston, Texas.

The international competition, which brings together 80 of the highest-ranked high school teams in Texas, consisted of over 180 FIRST Lego League teams from all over the world.

The Cub-Bots from S.S. Conner Elementary School and the EBJ EEEagles from Eddie Bernice Johnson STEAM Academy both won the Team Model Award for complexity and innovative solutions of their robotic builds.

For the second year in a row, Emmett J. Conrad High School RoboChargers were crowned UIL Robotics State Champions.

At the VEX Robotics World Championship that took place in May, students showcased their technical prowess and teamwork, leaving a lasting impression on the judges.

In the middle school competition, the LadyBots from the School for the Talented and Gifted in Pleasant Grove were awarded the Judges Award. Alex Sanger Preparatory School received the Energy Award.

In the elementary school category, John F. Peeler Elementary School’s team earned the Energy Award and Margaret B. Henderson Elementary School Queen Hornets earned a third place finish in their division.

The district’s drone teams soared to victory at the recent Aerial Drone Championship this past April in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

These young aviators demonstrated their exceptional piloting skills and creativity in designing autonomous programs for their drones. The OwlDrones and OwlDronez from STAG Pleasant Grove were awarded the Middle School Excellence Award, Skills Champion, and Judges Award. Woodrow Wilson High School’s Dronelution 360 was recognized with the High School Excellence Award. The Excellence Award stands as the highest honor attainable at a robotics or drone event. This event hosted the top 50 teams representing Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The success of Dallas ISD’s robotics and drone teams highlights the district’s dedication to cultivating a passion for STEM among its students.

By participating in these competitions, students gain invaluable real-world experiences and showcase their talent on a global stage. Dallas ISD’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of STEM leaders shines brightly through the achievements of its robotics teams.
