Dallas ISD is proud of our athletic programs. Thanks to funding provided by Bond 2015 and Bond 2020, we are renovating existing athletic spaces and building new, state-of-the-art facilities for our scholar athletes. These enhanced facilities are only one way we support our scholar athletes as they pursue excellence on and off the field.
Bond 2015 added new competition gyms and provided renovations and upgrades to existing gyms and locker rooms at high school campuses across the district, including:
- South Oak Cliff
- Bryan Adams
- Woodrow Wilson
- North Dallas
- W.T. White
- Thomas Jefferson
- James Madison
In addition to new competition gyms, visitors to games at Bryan Adams, Roosevelt, South Oak Cliff, and Sunset will have an enhanced welcoming experience. The gym lobbies include concession and snack areas filled with school pride, thanks to graphics depicting great moments in each school’s athletic history.
While Bond 2015 focused on building additions and interior renovations, Bond 2020 is focused on upgrades and enhancements to our exterior high school athletic facilities. Some $20 million is being invested in renovations to athletic fields at campuses across the district. Changes include:
- New turf
- Installation/renovation of football fields
- Baseball and softball field installations and renovations
- Installation/renovation of running tracks
- Installation/renovation of tennis courts
The work to create fields of dreams at each comprehensive high school began over the summer.
“Thanks to funding provided by the 2015 and 2020 bond programs, Dallas ISD is able to correct past athletic facility inequities by making improvements to our gyms and athletic fields at every comprehensive high school across the district,” shared Brent Alfred, Deputy Chief, Construction Services and Bond. “We recognize that championship athletes require championship facilities. Our goal is to ensure every scholar athlete in Dallas ISD has the equipment and facilities they need to support their efforts to compete at the highest levels.”
