Jeremy Taylor has always had a passion for inspiring and supporting people, especially young people. Whether it was at church, through his career as a professional electrician, in a professional wrestling ring, or now as a Career Institutes instructor, Taylor’s desire to make a difference has remained the same.

Taylor is an instructor for the electrical pathway at Dallas ISD’s Career Institute North. In addition to his passion for working with youth, he brings more than eight years of professional electrical experience to the role, having started his professional trade career in May 2013 as an electrical apprentice at Humphrey & Associates, Inc. He began an apprenticeship at Independent Electrical Contractors (IEC) in January 2014, graduating from IEC in May 2017. After completing 8,000 on-the-job hours and passing the state licensing exam in October 2017, he became a journeyman electrician, and he has had the privilege of working with major companies throughout the DFW area.

In late 2020, Taylor heard about Career Institutes at Dallas Independent Schools, and how the program offers students the opportunity to prepare for high-wage, high-demand trade careers right after high school.

“I decided to become a teacher because I wanted to be able to share my electrical trade knowledge with the next generation, while also helping kids understand that they have options after high school beyond college,” said Taylor. “Career Institutes offers them an opportunity to explore the trades.”

Career Institutes offers eight pathways for students to choose from: aviation, construction and carpentry, electrical and solar technology, interior design, HVAC, plumbing and pipefitting, cybersecurity and mechatronics. . The program offered the perfect opportunity for Taylor to make a difference.

“I didn’t have this option in high school. To find out this program existed in the DFW area definitely interested me, and gave me a chance to give more back than was available to me,” said Taylor. “In a very short time as a teacher, I have found a passion to work with students that I either didn’t know existed or has been dormant for years.”

While Taylor definitely loves his role as a teacher, he also loves to entertain families in the rough-and-tumble world of professional wrestling. He has been involved in the sport for 16 years and wrestles occasionally for the Christian Wrestling Federation where he has held multiple championships, including the CWF championship and the CWF tag team championship.

A Career Institutes teacher by day, and a professional wrestler in his spare time. Whatever it takes to inspire and support those he comes in contact with.
