Finish Strong ’21: On-campus learning, memorable activities help graduating seniors close high school on a high note

Dallas ISD senior Morgan Glover didn’t expect her senior year would happen in the middle of a pandemic, changing almost every aspect of her education experience.

Glover, who attends the Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, plans to study computer science at Southern Methodist University after she graduates. But as she closes out her senior year with classmate she has known since sixth grade, she wishes for a more traditional high school experience.

“I wish we were able to make more memories as a class this school year,” Glover said. “This will be the last year many of us see each other for a long time.”

While keeping safety as the priority and following all established safety measures–social distancing, wearing masks, sanitation stations, and plexiglass dividers–Dallas ISD is working to make the closing weeks of the Class of 2021 as memorable as possible. With high schools able to safely serve more in-person students, all seniors are urged to return to on-campus learning full time starting April 12.

As they continue following best safety practices, high schools will offer fun, memorable activities for the Class of ’21.

“Our seniors have been through a lot and worked so hard to get to this point,” Deputy Chief of School Leadership Mark Ramirez said. “We really want them close their high school career on a high note.”
