Nyla Campbell, a sophomore in the Seagoville High School P-TECH, shares why she has benefited from the program. The window is now open for current eighth-graders to apply to a P-TECH. Interested eight-graders can talk to their school counselor or visit www.dallasisd.org/choosedallasisd to learn more.

“I am a young entrepreneur who runs my own small business called NyVaLon: Cleansing. We offer chemical free and vegan-friendly butters and creams for the skin, hair, feet, and face. We customize each product based on the customer’s needs.

Being enrolled in a P-TECH is helping me advance in my career as quickly as I can. I’m in the business pathway, so I’ve learned in high school how to effectively manage and run NyVaLon.

The P-TECH industry partners have been incredibly helpful. I’ve gotten real-world business advice and mentorship, and I’ve learned how to work with people in environments I’m not used to.

In the midst of the pandemic, I am still attending online college courses that are preparing me to become a successful entrepreneur in the world of business and NyVaLon has grown through word of mouth.

After I graduate, I want to get my bachelor’s degree in business and eventually run my own NyVaLon store. If the right opportunity presents itself, I’d consider partnering with a bigger company. And thanks to the P-TECH, I’m much farther along toward achieving my dream than I ever thought I would be at this point.”
