After a banner school year that saw the highest enrollment in African American Studies and Mexican American Studies courses since their implementation, enrollment is now open for the 2020-2021 school year.

The African American Studies course explores the rich and diverse history and culture of African Americans. Students will broaden their knowledge and understanding of African American realities and its impact on contemporary issues. Likewise, the Mexican American Studies course explores the complexities of the Mexican American experience. Students will traverse Mexican American historical and cultural developments in the 20th and 21st centuries.

“African American Studies and Mexican American Studies afford students an opportunity to learn not only about their own history and culture, but about each other’s culture,” said Leslie Williams, Racial Equity Office deputy chief.
