The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation recognized Dallas ISD for assuring that all students have access to a well-rounded music program.

Dallas ISD was awarded with the Best Communities for Music Education designation. This nationwide honor recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education.

To qualify for the Best Communities designation, Dallas ISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.

“This designation honors the commitment of teachers and administrators along with parents and students who provide the best music education opportunities and experiences for Dallas ISD,” Jenny Fridge, director of operations for Dallas ISD Visual and Performing Arts. “We are honored to be awarded along with some of the absolute best music education programs in the nation!”

NAMM is a trade association that supports programs and research that promote music-making nationwide. The NAMM Foundation – the organization’s philanthropic arm – has awarded school districts across the country with the Best Communities for Music Education designation for the last 21 years.

Dallas ISD is among 754 school districts that wanted the Best Communities designation.
