Celebrating Black History Month by honoring life-changing educators

In celebration of Black History Month, Dallas ISD is honoring life-changing educators.

Each Thursday in February, we will share stories of longtime iconic educators who made a lasting impact in their students’ lives.

We kicked off our celebration with a powerful performance of “Lift Every Voice and Sing” by Audra Scott, head of opera studies at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts.

And our first educator spotlight focuses on Lincoln High School legend Napoleon B. Lewis.

Our second educator spotlight focuses on Lincoln High School legend Dr. Frederick Todd Sr., who led many roles in Dallas ISD. His tenure as principal at South Oak Cliff High School left an indelible mark on many students, teachers and community members.
