Dallas ISD school leaders are visiting campuses damaged by last night’s storms to assess damage to campuses. Based on the assessments, the district is developing a plan to begin repairs where possible and reassign students from seriously damaged schools to nearby campuses with the capacity to serve them. Currently, it appears that Thomas Jefferson High School, Edward H. Cary Middle School and Walnut Hill Elementary School—all in the northeast area of the district–sustained the most serious damage. Pershing Elementary School also sustained damage to a lesser degree.

Fourteen other schools were closed today due to lack of electricity to the campuses. The district is working with Oncor to restore power to those campuses, and preliminary plans are to reopen the campuses tomorrow pending restoration of electricity.
