Darion Walton, a professor for the Dallas County Community College District and faculty member at Dallas ISD, was selected as a Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction, a special program of the National Society of High School Scholars that honors educators worldwide. The honor is for Walton’s excellence in teaching and his encouragement of and dedication to the academic success of students in the Dallas Independent School District.

“Darion Walton is an exemplary teacher who constantly demonstrates an outstanding commitment to excellence by preparing students for success in career, college and in life,” Skyline High School Principal Janice Lombardi said. “He is a peer role model and exhibits great leadership and excellence in education.”

Skyline junior Sebastian Almendarez nominated Walton in recognition of his impact as an educator, leader and role model. Almendarez is a member of the National Honor Society of High School Scholars.

“I chose Mr. Walton for the award because he is an excellent teacher,” Almendarez said. “He has really impacted me as a student and has helped me become real world ready. He has changed my attitude toward Technology and because of him, I have become more interested in App Development. Mr. Walton has really changed my life for the better and he is most deserving of this award.”

The Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction program is named for its chairman, Claes Nobel, a senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prizes who strongly believes in the critical role that educators play in preparing students for success in college and in life.
