Three free events planned to help students prepare for the future

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. invites high school students and parents to register for its College Prep 102 Workshop, a free event featuring information on financial aid, scholarships and college life. It will be held at One Delta Place, 2525 MLK Jr. Blvd., Dallas, 75215 from 1 to 4 p.m., Sat., Feb. 10. Pre-registration is required by Tuesday, Feb. 6, at Eventbrite.com. The State Fair of Texas and other area organizations are sponsoring NXT Fest, a student conference featuring a job fair, free financial aid and scholarship workshops, college admissions information, free school supplies, and refreshments. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fair Park, Saturday, Feb. 17. Admission is free, and pre-registration is required at BIGTEX.COM/NXTFEST. Go here to learn more.

United Way is accepting applications for its two-week Future Focus Summer Camp for students in 10th and 11th grades. The camp will include workshops, field trips, opportunities to meet business representatives and explore companies and careers.
