The Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program gives Dallas ISD high school juniors and seniors real world experience in a professional field.

The Hub is spotlighting some of these Dallas ISD students participating in the program. Today, meet Destiny Hernandez, a student at Adamson High School who is interning with Dallas ISD’s Instructional Support Services.

What is your role as an intern?

As an intern, my role with Instructional Support Services is to assist in tasks such as collaborating with creative ideas and creating fun activities for teacher trainees. I also participate in creative ways for teachers to bring new ideas to teach content to students.

What do you hope to accomplish through the internship?

During the short few months of summer, I hope to accomplish numerous things. But my most important accomplishment is to learn about the fun and creative process behind the making of teacher professional development sessions.

What do you hope your career will be after school?

I hope to further my education in school administration and go back to working in our school system. I would like apply what I’ve learned in this department to create a fun and vibrant environment for our school system in the upcoming years.

What have you learned through the internship?

During my internship, I’ve learned that there is no small task; everything contributes to the main event.
