Teacher Appreciation Week!

Dallas ISD Teacher Appreciation Week was this week, and it was an opportunity to say thanks to all the wonderful educators who work hard to set up students for success. In celebration, students shared their thanksHuman Capital Management delivered cookiesbusinesses offered deals, and much more.

Thousands Discover Summer

Thousands of people came to the Discover Summer event and learned about the more than 100 free programs available for summer fun and learning. (Watch a video)

Top schools in North Texas

A study from the nonprofit Children at Risk states that Dallas ISD is home to six of the 10 best public high schools in North Texas. (See the schools)

Teacher gets governor shoutout

Governor Greg Abbott gave a public shout out to Burnet Elementary teacher Eric Hale last weekend for Hale’s idea, which Abbott then made a reality, on how the state can recognize outstanding Texas teachers. (Learn more)

Women LEAD scholarship

Five female Dallas ISD seniors earned a total of $40,000 for college from the Women LEAD scholarship program, which was founded by the Junior League of Dallas and Mary Kay. (Learn more)

Latino Superintendent of the Year

The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents has named Superintendent Michael Hinojosa the 2017 Latino Superintendent of the year. (Read this)

Pentathlon competition
