Registration opens Monday, April 3, for children to attend free and tuition-based pre-K in Dallas ISD during the 2017-2018 school year.
Free pre-K is available to children who will be 3 or 4 years old by Sept. 1 and meet at least one of these requirements:
- The child is eligible to take part in the national free or reduced-price school lunch program. To find out if your child is eligible, click here.
- The child is unable to speak and comprehend the English language.
- The child is homeless.
- The child is a dependent of an active duty member of the U.S. armed forces.
- The child is or has been in foster care.
For children who do not meet one of the five eligibility requirements, a limited number of spots for paid pre-K are available at 19 district elementary schools for the 2017-2018 school year. Tuition is $525 per month per child ($5,250 per year).
To apply, parents should start by filling out the online application and then collect the required documents listed on the pre-K website to take to their neighborhood elementary to complete the registration process.
