The Dallas Independent School District wants every family in the city to know there are great academic and extracurricular opportunities for students in all geographic areas of Dallas ISD. This Saturday, the district will present Discover Dallas ISD Southeast, a showcase of the variety and quality of programs in the district’s southeastern sector. From 9 a.m. to noon, Sat., April 8, at H. Grady Spruce High School, 9733 Old Seagoville Rd., administrators and teachers of the 31 schools in the Spruce, W.W. Samuell and Seagoville high school feeder patterns will meet with families and share information about their schools to persuade parents to choose Dallas ISD.

Today’s competitive educational environment has raised the bar for recruitment of students. Menay Harris, executive director of the schools in the W.W. Samuell High School feeder pattern, says schools in the southeastern sector of Dallas ISD offers dozens of quality programs, and she is delighted the district is doing more to market its schools.

“Dallas ISD has set a goal to become the premier educational choice for Dallas families. To do that, we have to be sure families are familiar with the quality of our schools and know that Dallas ISD wants to serve them and their children,” said Harris. “Saturday’s event is part of the district’s ongoing effort to reach out to inform families about what we have to offer.”

What the district has to offer in southeast Dallas are collegiate academies, magnet schools, dual language, STEM and STEAM programs, single gender schools, free and tuition-based pre-K, and dozens of engaging, enjoyable extracurricular activities. These will be on display Saturday along with teachers and administrators eager to answer questions and persuade families to choose Dallas ISD schools. Discover Dallas ISD Southeast will feature free admission, free parking, student entertainment, parent workshops and health screenings.
