Graduating seniors can receive up to $5,815 in Federal Pell Grant Funds, which do not have to be repaid, to help pay for tuition and fees at public and private colleges, community colleges and career schools. Hundreds of Dallas ISD seniors who are eligible to receive those funds have not yet completed the FAFSA.
There are several myths about financial aid, keeping some eligible students from completing the FAFSA and causing them to miss out on financial aid for college. In reality, most Dallas ISD students would qualify for grants, low-interest loans and work-study to help fund a postsecondary certificate or degree.
