The African American Success Initiative has partnered with local Dallas county judges who created a program called Pipeline to Possibilities. The goal is to educate students on various aspects of the justice system. Equally important, this program hopes to inspire students to be the best they can be and encourage them to make the right critical decisions for their bright futures.

“I believe it is this type of programming that shows the commitment of the community, not only willing to share their professional experiences, but rather a vested interest in the growth and development of young people.”AASI Coordinator Jamila Thomas said.

Students from South Oak Cliff High School and Kimball High School participated in the pilot program in February. The program is scheduled to provide various programming components to the schools on a monthly basis for four months.

“This was a great opportunity for students to experience the justice system first hand and at its best,” said Olliedra Foppe of Kimball High School. “It was powerful for students to witness diversity behind the bench.”

Thomas said Dallas ISD African American Success Initiative is proud to partner with people and organizations truly willing to be creative in the approach to educate all students on life and career.
