Industry partner reveal

Dallas ISD and the Dallas County Community College District announced the more than 20 Dallas businesses that will partner with the district’s 10 new collegiate academies opening next school year. (See the schools and industry partners)

Pennies from the Heart

As part of the 19th annual Common Cents Pennies from the Heart campaign, students from 19 Dallas ISD schools collected a total of $23,000 to donate to Dallas-area nonprofits. (Read this)

Donated uniforms

Soccoro Dinsmore, owner of several Levine’s Department stores, donated $600 worth of uniform shirts and pants to the John Leslie Patton Jr. Academic Center. (Read this)

NCAA Read to the Final Four

Thanks to students reading books outside of school, eight Dallas iSD schools have advanced to the next round of the NCAA’s Read to the Final Four contest for third-graders. (See the schools)

13,000 applications

In the recent application window that closed Jan. 31, Dallas ISD magnet schools, transformation schools, collegiate academies and Two-Way Dual Language program received more than 13,000 applications. (Learn more)

Traffic safety

Dallas ISD is the only school district in Texas to win a 2017 National Safety Council Our Driving Concern Texas Employer Traffic Safety Award for emphasizing traffic safety. (Learn more)

Approved 2017-2018 calendar

Trustees on Thursday approved the Dallas ISD 2017-2018 calendar. (See the full calendar)

Trustees approve ‘Welcoming and Protective’ resolution 

Trustees on Thursday also unanimously approved a resolution to designate all Dallas ISD schools as welcoming and protective to the fullest extent of the law. (See the full resolution)
