Schools all across Dallas ISD got into the holiday spirit this week thanks to generous donations from community partners.

From a music legend donating coats to homeless students to “Santa’s Elves” beautifying a school, it was a week packed with heartwarming news.

ACE surprise

More than 300 teachers and staff at the seven Dallas ISD ACE schools were surprised with $400 gift cards to Target. (Learn more)

Fifth-graders from Preston Hollow Elementary got a close-up look at college thanks to a field trip to Texas A&M in College Station. (Read this)

Big book donation

The Ford Motor Company Fund and First Book held a reading celebration at Obadiah Knight Elementary to kick off their donation of 10,000 new books to 100 schools in North Texas. (Read this)

Cowboys’ Carr talks reading

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Brandon Carr talked with students from Guzick Elementary and Skyline High School about the importance of reading. (Read this)

Rocking horses with heart

Students with special needs in the Multiple Careers Magnet donated their handmade wooden rocking horses to the Ronald McDonald House on Tuesday. (Read this)

Appreciation Financial and National Life Group acted as “Santa’s elves” to revitalize Ben Milam Elementary School over the weekend. (Watch this)

He’s going to Disney World

Speaking of Ben Milam Elementary, a student at the school won a free trip to Disney World from they mayor’s office after participating in the Oncor Mayor’s Race on Saturday. (Read this)

Rugby team donates to Callejo Elementary

Give A Kid A Coat
